An Open Letter to APC Manitoba Members
An Open Letter to The All Peoples Congress Party (A.P.C.) Members in Manitoba
My fellow members of the Manitoba Chapter of the All Peoples Congress (APC), I wish to formerly inform you all that I am a Presidential Candidate for the planned elections this ye
ar. I am humbly asking you to vote for me on Elections day. I am not taking your vote for granted, for I am going to work very hard to gain your trust. If elected as President of our chapter, I pledge- I won’t let you down.
I will also give you my solemn pledge that I will never resort to undemocratic activities. Fundamentally, I further pledge to uphold the APC constitution at all times and to do everything in my power as leader to increase the membership base of our party right here in Manitoba.
I strongly believe the interest of our party is more important than the interest of anyone individual including me. I want to be the leader of our chapter to achieve certain goals/objectives:
I want to provide fresh, progressive and inclusive leadership by opening up our Party to all Sierra Leoneans living in Manitoba .
I recognize the role played by our Interim Chairman as a founding member of the APC Manitoba Chapter and I applaud him for this. But for the past four years, our party has been drifting in all directions with no clear purpose and this is one of the main reasons why I have made the decision to lead the Party of Action, Progress and Commitment(APC). Some of us still have the bad memory of our trip to Edmonton..
Our current Interim leader has lost the credibility of most community members in Manitoba including the African Community Association of Manitoba, commonly knows as ACOMI and the ACCHC (African Canadian Cultural Heritage Centre)- and by the way, is it true that my opponent was dragged to court by ACCHC and how about the Sierra Leone community’s proceeds from the 2000 and 2001 dinners?
As a result of all this, our Party is greatly affected, and many well known respectable people in our
community who are/were active and strong APC members in Sierra Leone are afraid to join the APC branch in Manitoba because of the scandal and bad experience they had dealing with our Interim leader in other community organizations.
I want to stop the unnecessary divisive infighting that is affecting our ability to promote our party here in Manitoba , but can’t achieve it without your support. For the past four years, nothing concrete was done positively to promote our Party due to failure of the current leader to work with people in a transparent
manner.
The failure to hold Elections on time as it was unanimously agreed by party members is a clear indication of negligence and indecisiveness on the part of the Interim leader. If elected as president, I will insist on Accountability, Transparency, and Collegiality in the decision making process affecting our Party.
I promise to bring change to make our Party more Democratic. I want to be a leader that believes in “WE/US” as in team player, but not “I/ME” as in Selfish. Our young people and Party members will have a say in the way we do things by giving them leadership roles in the decision making process. I will encourage women, seniors, citizens, students, house wives, workers etc. to participate fully in the
decision making process of our Party. No member will be left behind.
When you vote for me, you are voting for change and for a new direction of our Party. We need a leadership that listens, not arrogant but humble. There is room for growth, but we cannot achieve this under a Mis-guided and Misinformed leader who is more interested in his own survival. Up until now he can’t tell any member of our Party his Aims and Objectives. If we follow the Constitution of the party he should not even be an Interim Leader/neither contest for the Presidency of the Party.
Instead of focusing on party policy and philosophy, he is busy passing around with wrong information about me. I will never hate him for that because I believe hatred is too much a burden for me to carry…so I will chose to always like and respect him. On Elections day, vote for change by voting for MOHAMMED FRANCIS TAQI JR. Long live APC, Long live the people of Sierra Leone and Long live Ernest Koroma the struggles continues unabated…………..Oseih. Thanks
Regards,
MOHAMMED FRANCIS TAQI JR.
